Our Story

What started as a simple love for open land, fresh air, and hard work has grown into a place where families come to slow down and reconnect. This land wasn’t built overnight. It was shaped by early mornings, long days, and a whole lot of pride in doing things the right way. From caring for our animals to welcoming guests like family, everything here is rooted in honesty, hospitality, and respect for the land.

Gary & Mary Lightfoot—Owners

Some places are built quickly... others take root.

When Gary and Mary Lightfoot first stepped onto this land in Parker County, they didn’t see an RV park. They saw possibility. Wide Texas skies stretching overhead. Century-old oak trees standing quietly in witness. A ranch with a past—and room for a future that felt intentional, welcoming, and deeply human.

They believed travel should feel personal again. Not rushed. Not crowded. Not generic.

What began as a working ranch slowly became a vision: a place where the spirit of Texas could live on, while modern travelers felt completely at home. A place where guests didn’t just park for the night—but stayed long enough to breathe, connect, and remember why the open road called them in the first place.

Legacy Longhorn Ranch & RV Resort was born from that belief.

ROOTED IN TEXAS. BUILT WITH PURPOSE

Gary and Mary didn’t want to erase the land’s history— they wanted to honor it. The ranch aesthetic, the open spacing, the quiet rhythm of nature… all were preserved by design. Every decision was guided by one simple question:

How does this improve the guest experience?

Legacy Longhorn was thoughtfully created to balance old-country Texas charm with the comforts today’s travelers expect. Not flashy. Not overbuilt. Just intentional. From the way the land flows, to the way people naturally gather, to the feeling guests get when they arrive and realize… this place is different.

At its heart, Legacy Longhorn is about connection.

Connection to nature.
Connection to community.
Connection to a slower pace that reminds you what matters.

It’s in the early morning stillness by the water. The conversations that start with strangers and end as friendships. The way families return year after year, creating traditions of their own.

Gary and Mary envisioned a destination where people feel welcome whether they’re staying one night or many months. A place where travelers from all walks of life share stories, sunsets, and the simple joy of being somewhere that feels genuine.
